Rocco Forte Hotels: Best for Business
The Lowry Hotel in Manchester was also in the top 12, meaning that all of the The Rocco Forte Collection in the UK were highly commended in the business category. The Balmoral was ranked highest for standard and comfort of accommodation, as well as for its ambience and décor, with the St David's Hotel & Spa ranking highest for leisure facilities.
Sir Rocco Forte, Chairman & Chief Executive of The Rocco Forte Collection, said, "I am delighted that my properties have been recognised at these prestigious awards. This sends out a clear message that, when you want to do business outside the capital, you should stay at a Rocco Forte Hotel. However, we also look forward to looking after customers in London when Brown's Hotel reopens in spring 2005."
In the European Leisure Hotels Category, Hotel Savoy in Florence ranked sixth and the Hotel de Russie in Rome eighth. Hotel Tresanton, which is owned by Olga Polizzi, Sir Rocco's sister and Rocco Forte Hotel's Director of Design, was voted fifth best UK leisure hotel.
There was at least one Rocco Forte Hotel ranked in the top ten of all the categories in which the hotels could have been entered, giving some indication of the quality of service and surroundings that the discerning Condé Nast Traveller readers who vote for the awards have come to expect when they stay at a Rocco Forte Hotel property. Readers were asked to select the best that the travel world has to offer - from hotels and spas to airlines and airports, with service and value for money being particularly important criteria.
Last week, Sir Rocco Forte announced that he was to build a hotel in the German city of Munich. This announcement follows the acquisition of Le Richemond in Geneva on 2 July 2004 and brings the total number of operational and confirmed The Rocco Forte Collection to 15.
